Aalto University is where science and art meet technology and business. We shape a sustainable future by making research breakthroughs in and across our disciplines, sparking the game changers of tomorrow and creating novel solutions to major global challenges.

Our community is made up of 13 000 students, 400 professors and close to 4 500 other faculty and staff working on our dynamic campus in Espoo, Greater Helsinki, Finland. The School of Chemical Engineering is one of the six schools of Aalto University. It combines natural sciences and engineering in a unique way.

Electrolytic processes group started at Aalto in 2025, focusing on accelerated discovery of flow battery chemistries, hybrid technologies combining energy storage, hydrogen and chemicals production, as well as alternative electrochemical approaches for chemical industry.

Main tasks in PREDICTOR

High throughput synthesis and electrochemical characterization of redox shuttles, stability testing, electrochemical engineering of reactors for redox shuttle concepts.

Prof. Pekka Peljo

“Solving the challenge of the energy storage requires collaboration across multiple fields. PREDICTOR enables us to work together with experts from molecular modelling, data science, machine learning to automated synthesis, with both academia and industry, while training the next generation of the scientists”
